Zara's Fund

Zara was found bloodied, hurting, and tied to a tree.

Found beside the Nairne Golf Course with severe injuries to her head and body, Zara was left for dead.

Thankfully, a member of the public saw Zara and reached out to our Inspectors. We quickly took her into emergency care. Our inspectors believe she was hit multiple times by a splitting hatchet – the offending weapon found nearby.

Zara has had to undergo surgery to stitch up over twenty wounds from the attack. Our vet team painstakingly shaved, cleaned and stitched every cut across her head, body and legs.

Despite the horrendous violence Zara’s experienced, she still has the sweetest nature. It’s hard to imagine why anyone would want to hurt this sweet, wriggly girl.

Open wounds like Zara’s have a high risk of infection, meaning our team will continue to closely monitor her as she heals. The extreme trauma from the attack has also left Zara with a heartbreaking fear of men and loud sudden sounds. Our behaviour team are working with her so she can re-learn how to trust again, a process that takes time and patience.

This sweet girl has been through unimaginable pain and suffering, but with your loving gift, you can give her the chance to know a life filled with love.

Whether it’s the cost of a pain patch or a vet check, your compassionate gift means Zara can experience a new life free from suffering.

*  The goal for Zara’s fundraiser includes the cost of wound debriding and stitching under anaesthetic, wound rechecks and cleaning, desexing, antibiotics, pain relief and post-operative care. If donations exceed Zara’s medical expenses, additional funds will help other animals in need. *
