COVID-19: Animal Crisis Appeal

We need your help like never before to save animals in need across South Australia.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit our charity hard. Already, we’re seriously struggling amid closures of our social enterprises, decreasing numbers of donations and dwindling volunteer numbers. We’ve had to make too many hard decisions already, and worse could be yet to come.

We’re now only allowing badly injured animals or those at serious welfare risk into our care, as we fight to keep our essential services going.

We need your support to save animals in most desperate need across South Australia.

Your donation will give our frontline workers – our shelter staff, welfare inspectors and rescue officers – the ability to keep saving and caring for the animals who most depend on us.

Animals with severe injuries. Animals who have suffered abject cruelty. Animals living in neglect. This protection work is what RSPCA was created for 144 years ago – we must ensure this life-saving work can continue.

Times are uncertain. We’re unsure of what tomorrow will bring.

But if the experience of shelters overseas is anything to go by, demand for our essential animal services is only likely to increase in coming months.

We are expecting:

  • An increased need for emergency boarding by hospitalised people who have no friends or family to care for the animals left behind.
  • More surrendered animals as people struggle to afford pet food.
  • Increased need for mobile foster care support – delivering supplies, moving animals and providing home vet checks.

Please don’t let our most vulnerable animals be forgotten amid this crisis. You can help ensure animals do not need to suffer.
