Misha's Fund

Misha's Fund

This Maremma Sheepdog puppy was surrendered into our care with both bones in her right front leg completely broken.

Our Animal Ambulance picked her up from an emergency vet clinic where she had undergone xrays and had her leg bandaged to give it some support.

Back at the Lonsdale shelter, our vet team conducted a full check-up and applied a pain management patch. They described Misha as “a very good girl who enjoys cuddles and thinks she is a lapdog (despite her size)”.

The severe fracture will require specialist orthopaedic surgery to repair, using pins and plates to secure the bones back in place.

If you’re a pet owner, you’ll know that vet treatment doesn’t come cheap, especially specialist care.

Even with a generous discount from our external vet partner, we estimate the surgery, plus the additional costs of rehabilitation, pain management, and follow up x-rays, will set us back around $4000.

Will you donate to Misha’s emergency fund to help cover the costs of her vital surgery?

The road to recovery for Misha will be a long one.

She’ll need to spend up to two months under strict crate rest, slowly re-introducing gentle exercise to build muscle mass and restore her strength.

She will also require repeat x-rays after her recovery period to make sure the bones have healed properly.

We believe Misha deserves to live free from pain, cherished by a loving new family.

At just 8 months old, we are confident she will make a full recovery, and have a long, happy and active life ahead of her.

But as a community-funded charity, we need your help to cover the costs of the medical care that will make our dream for this beautiful young dog a reality. Can Misha count on you?

Thank you for your compassion for animals at their time of greatest need. We couldn’t help them without your support.

*The goal for Misha’s fundraiser includes the cost of specialist surgery to repair the fractures, pain relief, xrays, post-operative care and rehabilitation. If her medical and care costs are less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide veterinary care for other animals in need.
