Hank's Fund

Hank's Fund

This four-month-old Mastiff X puppy came into our care with a badly broken leg, after being attacked by a large adult dog.

Our vet team sprang into action, providing urgent medical treatment for this wounded pup.

Sadly, Hank’s leg was too far gone to save, so the best option was leg amputation surgery to ease his suffering and give him the best chance of recovery.

As a community-funded organisation, we need your help to pay for Hank’s surgery and rehabilitation, which is setting us back around $3,500.

Following the major surgery, Hank has been recovering in foster care, building up strength and stamina before he is ready to find his forever home.

As a young pup, Hank’s prognosis is strong, but he will likely need ongoing extra special care.

Can we count on you to give this precious pup and others like him a powerful second chance?

Being a large breed, it will be crucial to carefully monitor Hank’s weight to avoid any unnecessary burden on his remaining three legs. He may also need a harness or assistive device down the track, depending on how well he adapts to life as a tripawd.

At this challenging time when our incoming animal numbers are soaring, including many with complex medical and behavioural needs, we rely on kind people like you.

Thank you – it is only with your support that we can be there for Hank, and the next animal that needs critical care.

*The goal for Hank’s fundraiser includes the cost of leg amputation surgery, xrays, post-operative care including pain relief, and recovery in foster care. If his medical and care costs are less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals in need of urgent veterinary treatment.*

Why do we publish emergency appeals?

As a community funded organisation, we already rely on donations to run our day-to-day animal care operations.

On top of this vital daily work, sometimes an animal like Hank comes into our care in a critical condition, and we find ourselves in urgent need of extraordinary funds for their medical treatment.

We never know when, what circumstances or how many of these special cases will come through our doors. That’s where your generous support comes in and helps us plug the gap. Thank you – we couldn’t do this life-changing work without you!
