Oscar was just two weeks old when he was brought into our Lonsdale shelter, along with his brother and sister, by a member of the public who found them hiding in her shed.
It’s unclear whether Oscar was born without part of his leg and tail, or whether the deformities were caused by a traumatic accident. Either way, his resilience is remarkable.
His sister, Trina, is also missing part of her leg, but while her stump is too short to touch the ground, Oscar uses his for support when walking, which is causing damage.
Oscar was prescribed antibiotics by our vet team to avoid infection setting in, while he spent weeks gaining strength in a loving foster home, along with his siblings.
Unfortunately, the friction wound on Oscar’s leg stump has been worsening and is likely causing him pain. Our vets have determined the best option for his long-term comfort and wellbeing is to remove the remaining part of the leg.
We have no doubt that this brave boy will adapt and thrive as a three-legged kitty following the surgery, with big-hearted friends like you on his side.
Will you give this sweet little cat the leg up he needs, by helping to cover the costs of his surgery, medication, and post-operative care?
Thank you for your compassion for SA’s most vulnerable animals.
