Winter Lockdown Appeal

Winter Lockdown Appeal

Sadly, animal cruelty doesn’t stop during lockdown. And neither do our efforts to help the state’s most at-risk animals.

When the COVID pandemic first hit, the South Australian community stepped up – you opened your homes and your hearts to animals, and you generously donated to allow our frontline workers to keep saving animals in need.

This time around, it’s going to be tough, but we know we can get through it with the support of our compassionate community of animal lovers.

Despite record adoptions over the last year, we currently have more abandoned, neglected and homeless animals in our care than ever before. An abnormally long kitten season, crossing over into winter, has meant that our inbound animal numbers have skyrocketed. To add to the challenge, the majority of these animals are not ready to be placed in forever homes yet, as they require veterinary treatment, specialised care, or behavioural support.

Please donate today to help keep our essential animal services going through these testing times.

We’ll always be here for the animals that need us. But the harsh reality is, this lockdown will hit us hard, and stretch our resources to the limit.

It will mean our already strained finances take a dive, as our Op Shops shut their doors, and our dog training classes are cancelled. As a community-funded charity, we rely on people shopping at our Op Shops, hosting fundraisers, and attending classes, to help fund our vital animal care operations.

It will mean less hands on deck to care for our animals, as we prioritise the health of our volunteers, many whom are vulnerable members of the community. As we did last year, we will re-deploy staff to ensure our animals are cared for, but we will be spread thin.

Will you make an urgent donation to help make up the shortfall, so we can ensure that no animal is left behind?

We know there are so many people doing it tough at the moment. Our South Australian community has a proud reputation of sticking together and looking out for each other in times of uncertainty and hardship.

Thank you so much for remembering vulnerable animals amid this crisis. Your support will ensure our life-saving work can continue, no matter what challenges we face.
